Did you hear the crash?

That loud thump when I fell off the fabric-fasting wagon? I didn't intend to fall; I was going to hold out until vacation, when I could fabric shop in France, but I somehow found myself on the Gorgeous Fabrics website at lunch the other day, and you know what happened next.

It could have been worse. She was having a sale, so it could have been much worse. I got a yard each of two really cute stretch jerseys ("Bohemian Cristalle" and "Olive Garden") for tops that will coordinate with the wardrobe pieces I made. I also got 2 yards of a dark brown Italian cotton/lycra stretch called, appropriately, "The Road More Traveled." I bought some of this in black a while back and it was so fabulous that when I saw she had it in brown, I had to get some. And then I bought 2 yards of a beautiful stylized paisley batiste that I want to use to make BWOF 5/2007 # 111, a top I didn't evem particularly like until I saw Christina's version of it in her wardrobe. Now I must have one.

So, 6 yards total. That really isn't bad. Really. Especially for me.

When I submitted my order, I told Ann that she made me break my no-shopping-before-vacation resolve, and her logic was this, "Well, look at it this way, with the dollar being in the hopper against the Euro, you're saving money on all fronts!" Okay, then. Not only is she an enabler, she's a justifier. Multi-talented, that woman is.

Who knows, I might even get my fabrics before I leave, and if I do, I'm going to sew up "Olive Garden" into another quickie KS 3338 tee to wear while I'm in Paris.

I like those knits you ordered! I am trying - trying - to hold myself back from the tempation of the sale...

You will *love* that Burda blouse. I think I've been wearing mine about once a week since I finished it :)

Well that's not so bad! I have to go to the garment district in a week and I am telling myself I can only get 2 yards of the white cotton I need. That's it!

So a stash diet is just like a real diet, sometimes you have to make an exception! Especially when it's a great sale. The tax refund is deposited with more money on the way - oh yea, I'm making my purchase today!

You did good! I love the olive green print.

Here's my justification. Use it if you need it.
You wear clothes everyday. You always need clothes. Any fabric you buy for clothes is a necessity.

(Weak, I know, but it works for me!)

Those look very nice. I look forward to seeing them made up (crossing my fingers for you that they arrive before you leave). Sigh, I drool over Gorgeous Things fabrics but the postage to NZ is a killer. One day though....
