Public Service Announcement/Shameless Advertisement

I've been sewing with BWOF for about 2 years now, and only finally gave in and got a subscription last fall when Borders stopped carrying it for 3 months and I missed out on some good stuff. And had to pay ridiculous inflated prices on Ebay to get the issues I missed (and paid it gladly, mind you - September and October were especially good issues).

During that time, Mario's been sitting back watching me obsess, hunt and eventually get a subscription. Now all I have to do is obsess and wait for the mailman. Whenever he saw extra issues at Borders he'd buy them and put them on Ebay, but purchasing at retail prices meant he had to raise the price to make a profit. Eventually, when he realized that the madness was not confined to me and there were people who would buy it every month, he got a deal to be a distributor for the magazine.

So here's my shameless bit of advertising for the man who endures my absence in the sewing room every night: on his website (where he sells used books and textbooks through Half.com, Ebay and Amazon), you can also buy the current issue of BWOF, or pre-order for next month. Or, I believe, get your very own subscription and stop haunting the local bookstore - where the cover price has gone up to an obscene $12.50 per copy now. I'm putting a link on my sidebar and will go back to my regularly scheduled sewing.

I hope no one is offended by the advertising, but I know how hard it is to find BWOF sometimes, and I'd publish this link for someone not connected to me if I thought it would help a fellow addict get her Burda fix.

Can you talk him into carrying Patrones, too?

I'll keep you in mind when I miss out on one over here - I get a few months to get organised before it reaches NZ but that doesn't always mean I am. (organised, that is, lol)

It's your blog, you get to say what you want. I, for one, and happy to know where I can get an issue if my B&N stops carrying it, or if I don't get there before the four issues they get in are gone.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with providing people with a service!!! I, for one, didn't want to renew my subscription because I find that I prefer spring/summer patterns over the winter ones. So.... since I can't get Burda anywhere around here it's great to know that there is a source for me if I only want a month at a time! See? You've already helped someone out!
