Oops, I did it again

Somehow, I managed to slip twice this week. The first occasion was Wednesday, when I was wearing my new black cropped pants. Like the pants, hate the fabric. I decided that black cotton stretch sateen would be a nice alternative to the stretch twill, and Gorgeous Fabrics had just what I wanted. 2 yards.

And because no fabric should ever travel alone in a box in case it gets lonely, I got 2 yards of "Pretty Posies all in a Row" jersey. (Okay, and there were some knit linings as well, but I don't count linings of any kind toward my buying totals).

Aside from her fabric fabulousity, Ann is fast. I ordered on Wednesday, and the fabric is sitting under my desk as I type. I know what I'm doing this weekend.

Then, on Thursday, the evil Fashion Fabrics Club sent me a sale email.

I was at work.

I was bored.

I browsed.

I clicked.

7 more yards - yet another shirt fabric for Mario (I think I can convince him that this spatter-paint print was Jackson Pollock-inspired), a blue/white poplin that's not my general taste but which wants to be the top of another Simplicity 2724 dress, with white collar and cuffs and a narrow black skirt, and 3 yards of navy sateen with red and white pattern (this fabric came in two print sizes and I got some of each, intending a vintage-inspired dress. We'll see when that happens).

So that's 11 unexpected yards, and I'm going to NYC on June 17th.

But the plan is I'm mainly going to see the Isabel Toledo exhibit at the FIT Museum and do a little trim shopping.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. What about the road to the Garment District. Is it paved with buttons? Snaps? Studs? Sequins, maybe?

It must be in the air, I ordered from Needle Nook fabrics, Denver Fabrics and a new one for me- Fabric Warehouse. Now none of it will get sewn until after the wedding but I can just admire it on my sewing table.

I didn't succumb to that sale, but did to the Michael's Fabric sale and a roll end from EOS.
I'll be in NYC on June 17th too, meeting a cousin and shopping. I forgot about the Toledo exhibit. I think that my cousin will go for that. Do I need fabric? Not really, but she is a jewelry designer and we're going to one of her suppliers, so I see anything interesting I can buy there with her.

Life is short-buy fabric and enjoy it!

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who heard the swan song from both vendors. GT is great for instant gratification. I'm going to get a bundle from Michael's sometime soon.
