Paris Bound

And I'm so excited!

I've been more than a little OCD about checking all the travel websites daily, and getting my feelings hurt daily. Roundtrip Philly to Paris has been running in the high $900s, which is appalling. I didn't want cheap - I know the days of cheap, cheap airfares are behind us - but I wanted at least a price that didn't make me gag.

The other day, I got one. Drinking my morning coffee, checked the airfares, saw Philly to Paris, roundtrip, non-stop, for $630. I had to look twice to make sure I was seeing properly, and then I clicked "buy."

Of course all this excitement will be delayed, because the belated "honeymoon" that this technically is will not happen until October, but that's all right. I'm a big believer in anticipation, and the fabulousness of going back to Paris will definitely not wear off in 8 months.

I've got a major soft spot for Paris. Aside from it being freaking Paris (and what else does it need), there's the little issue of the food, the art, the food, the wine, the food and the window shopping. Plus our first trip to Paris together in 2007 was where Mario and I definitely became a couple who would end up together, so that's best of all.

And of course, there will be Paris vacation sewing, but not for a while yet.

Karen, I live one hour from Paris, I don't want to interfere with your Honeymonn, but don't hesitate to ask a "native" if you need some advice.
Paris is fabulous

How fabulous! October will be much better anyhow -- I was in Paris in April a couple years ago and it alternated between snowing and raining the whole time. Have a wonderful trip!

My sister and I plan to go to Paris in a couple of years, we are going together because it is too special to waste on our husbands :)

You just made me want to go to Paris. Just checked airfares - $1538! And that is with a really strong Aussie $...sigh. I have been once. Such a beautiful city. Lucky you. Perfect for a honeymoon :)

Ooooh, so jealous!!! You know I love Paris. I like the idea of anticipating the honeymoon for 8 months. It means you can be newlyweds for longer!

Remember when I asked you for information about another trip to Paris your took? Guess what? I STILL haven't made it. I'm sure it won't be this year either. Oldest son just moved to San Francisco so it looks like our summer vacation will be to California this year. Someday......Hope you have a lovely honeymoon. Anticipation is half the fun of vacation.

Isn't that *the best* feeling when you get a deal on airfare? $630 is a really good deal right now. I paid that for my flight when I went 2 Novembers ago.

(Listen to this insanity: right around the time we were beginning to get serious about booking, United opened a direct route from Pittsburgh - where my fam lives - to Paris, and offered what must have been a one day sale: my mom and sis snagged direct tickets for $400?!?! Isn't that nuts?? I agree with you, I feel those days are over now.)

Yes, super cheap flights are definitely gone :( I booked to the Amsterdam for just under $800 and felt like it was a steal! Although, I'm getting the feeling that's an expensive locale either way. Because I found my China ticket for $700. The flights to Europe were hovering around $1100 so I jumped on $800. I love that you get to anticipate and plan until October!
